1ST QUARTER OF 2010 RETAIL SALES AND A COMPARISON TO 2007, 2008, AND 2009

1st Quarter 2010 Chicagoland Retail Sales showed some growth in the return of consumer expenditures. 1st quarter Metro area retail sales grew by $43.5 million, while the City of Chicago grew by $12.4 million.

Chicagoland Metro Retail Sales in 2009 declined by -$8.9 billion, or -8.74%. Combined with 2008 retail sales, the Metro area declined by a total of -$13.98 billion, or -13.1%. All retail sales categories declined.The City of Chicago declined by -$1.5 billion.
